I first heard about GapMinder from Paul Currion’s post here and have played around with it since. It’s addictive – although the number of indicators is still limited, the acquisition by Google should in the near future open up a far more comprehensive world of public statistics.

See what’s possible by taking a look at how India and China catchup with the US in terms of economic growth and the correlation to the availability of phones.

Would be useful to see the addition of conflict and development indicators, such as that which goes into the making of the Human Development Reports.
