New media and health reporting

As part of my lecture series for mid-career journalists at the Sri Lanka College of Journalism (SLCJ), I held a class today on leveraging new and social media for journalists specialising in health reporting.

In the course of my research for the lecture, I encountered Moca, an open source tool free to download and use that looks extremely interesting. Leveraging cutting-edge mobile technology, the platform is already being used in Mexico and showcases just how far mobiles have come as platforms enabling remote healthcare.
