I’ve been known to point to Al Jazeera’s The Listening Post as one of the best media monitoring programmes currently broadcast, critiquing not just traditional print and electronic media bias, but also web and Internet memes and coverage online of key events, processes, organisations and individuals.
Nieman Journalism Lab features a great, pithy interview with the show’s host Richard Gizbert. He talks about the manner in which the programme is produced and how Al Jazeera in general uses new media as primary source material and for audience interaction.
My last appearance on The Listening Post was talking about the impact the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative (IMMI) would have on independent and investigative journalism in Sri Lanka.
